The Ice Hockey Championship by the opening game between Germany and the USA team in the Veltins Arena in Gelsenkirchen. Capacity of the FC Schalke 04 stadium has been risen from the common 61 673 seats to 76 152 places. In case the arena will be fully crowded it would be the greatest visit at the ice-hockey game at all, worthy of the Guiness World Record.
Awaited 500.000 spectators at 56 World Championship games of the world's 16 best Ice Hockey nations. Some 650 million viewers worldwide will follow the 2010 IIHF World Championship on up to 200 TV stations.
Škoda Auto is the official main sponsor of IIHF World Championships in the 18th consecutive year since 1993. The Škoda Auto advertising boards are strategically placed at the beginning of the curves and in the reach of the main TV camera and the Škoda logo in the centre circle on the ice has become a true landmark of the championship. Škoda Auto is also a sponsor of the live broadcasts.
Škoda Auto presents also two cars in each arena. In Cologne it will be the new Superb Combi and Škoda Yeti, in Manheim the Fabia RS and a Roomster Scout will be shown. Traditionally, the Škoda Auto respective patches will be placed on the helmets and on the jerseys national teams of the Czech and Slovak Republic and this year also the national teams of Denmark, Norway and Italy.
The outdoor car presentation will be enriched with mobile roadshows in all three location. Along with the outside stands, these are the distribution points for the well accepted give-aways and our fun generating photo promotion “Become a Hockey Star”.
Official Škoda fleet
The 40 Škoda cars identified by a special signalisation representing the Official Fleet are planned to be exhibited to the public in Leipzig at the Auto Mobil International (AMI) in Leipzig. Then they will be handed-over to the Organizing Committee in a special ceremony. The cars will carry IIHF officials, organizers, sponsors, guests and goods between the arenas, airports, hotels and other relevant sites.
