Mumbai, 5th August 2021: ŠKODA AUTO India is organising a design contest where budding Indian designers are being called upon to take part and design a camouflage for its upcoming mid-size premium sedan. Entries to the contest will be open till 18th August 2021 and the top five entries shortlisted by the jury will be announced on 23rd August 2021. One final winner will be announced from among the top five shortlists.
The contest will be judged by Mr. Gurpratap Boparai, Managing Director - SAVWIPL, Mr. Zac Hollis, Brand Director - ŠKODA AUTO India and Mr. Oliver Stefani, Head of Design - ŠKODA AUTO a.s. The evaluation process will span across various criteria, which adapt to the new creative and technical requirements. Weightage will be given on each design based on innovation, aesthetics, functionality, ergonomics, durability, impact, utility, reality of production and the emotional quotient.
Speaking about the contest, Zac Hollis, Brand Director – ŠKODA AUTO India, said, “India has some great design talent. We are really excited about recognising that through this unique contest for our upcoming mid-size premium sedan. We look forward to engaging with passionate Indian minds and this is a great opportunity for imaginative expression. We have already launched the first mid-size SUV, ŠKODA KUSHAQ, which is a testament to our commitment to the Indian market. KUSHAQ was designed in close collaboration between our teams in the headquarters and India, and the upcoming mid-size premium sedan follows this practice. The camouflage contest is a great way to kick-off activities for the second global reveal planned by us this year.”
Participation is open to any individual above 18 years of age. The contest is extended to design studios, companies, universities, design students and design professionals from India. They can participate in the contest by registering and submitting their design online on www.camowithskoda.com
The winner from the top 5 shortlisted designs will get an opportunity to travel to Prague to meet the Head of Design, ŠKODA AUTO a.s. - Mr. Oliver Stefani, at the ŠKODA headquarters. In addition, the winning design will be applied on the upcoming ŠKODA offering, and will be showcased across the country. The runner – up will get a design tablet and the next 3 shortlisted entries will be awarded ŠKODA gift bags.
2021: A new phase of growth for ŠKODA AUTO in India
ŠKODA AUTO India announced a 234% increase in its July 2021 sales, compared to the same period last year. The company sold 3,080 cars in July 2021, compared to 922 cars sold in July 2020.
Sales in June 2021 stood at 734 units, which account for a 320% increase in July 2021 sales over June 2021. As per the company’s strategy, the surge in sales is fuelled by the launch of KUSHAQ, which will be one of the important growth drivers of the brand going forward.
2021 marks an important year for ŠKODA AUTO in India, with the roll out of the ‘India 2.0’ strategy, which began with the launch of KUSHAQ. The increased customer engagement is also leading to rise in volumes across the complete range including SUPERB, OCTAVIA and RAPID.
